How do i stop my face from peeling is there any hosehold items that will make it stop and will makeup cover it

i got sunburnt and now my face is peeling and it looks awful and besides making it stop peeling is there anything to cover it up?
How do i stop my face from peeling is there any hosehold items that will make it stop and will makeup cover it
put on some moisturizer under your makeup. it usually works for me. also, aloe vera works wonders!

use aloe vera gel. duh!
Reply:aloe will help, or if you have a vitamin E capsule, bust that open and put it on your skin, that helps as well
Reply:When you sunburn, wash the area as soon as you can and then use a regular face lotion -- a lot.
Reply:You can cover up peeling with a little concealer and foundation.

My Face......helpp?

my face has been really irritating since maybe..sunday night. its red and its almost as if i got sunburn. which i didnt. i dont know if its something i ate or if its this new face wash that i just bought. but, my face is really dry and it stings. and it looks like its peeling. this never happened before and usually i dont have dry skin or anything. i have no idea what to do. i washed my face with soup and put lotion on. but its not getting better. so, what should i do? or what should i use to get rid of it?
My Face......helpp?
First off, stop using the face wash. It could be the cause. If possible, see a dermatologist. They should know what to do, and also check the bottle and see if you are allergic to anything in it

Girls help me please! THIS URGENT! i may possibly have TSS...?

ok first of all I am 14 years old, my period started when i 12 a week b4 a turned 13. OK my problem is during my period i have a really bad stomache ache, cramps, i feel dizzy, i have diarrhea and feel like im about to faint when i stand up. When my period first started, all this happened to me and continued to happen till today. I used pads back then, then switched to tampons, then back to pads then tampons.... Ya anyway there%26#039;s a disease called TSS, and the symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, sunburn-like rash, muscle achs and near fainting while standing.... i really don%26#039;t know whether i have this disease... (tss stands for toxic shock syndrome) you get it when u leave your tampon in too long and it%26#039;s absorbs too much, that has happened to me alot so i think i may have this tss thing... i don%26#039;t know what to do... all that stuff happened to me ever since the first day of my period when i DIDN%26#039;T use tampons... so what should i do?? HELP!!!!! and i am in pain now as i type this...........
Girls help me please! THIS URGENT! i may possibly have TSS...?
well considering that this happened to you when you wore only pads also, I doubt it is tss, I honestly believe that if you have tss you would know it. I heard about this one girl that had it and its a disease from leaving your tampon in too long like u said, but she couldn%26#039;t even get out of bed....so I don%26#039;t really think thats your problem I%26#039;d say you just have really bad pms. Listen sweetie if your that concerned about it have your mom take you to the doctor...dont worry if it worries her. Tss is serious and you can die from it...Best of luck!
Girls help me please! THIS URGENT! i may possibly have TSS...?
So right this very minute you are vomitting, diarreah, and a rash? Then you should go tell your parents immediatly and they need to take you to the ER.
Reply:get to a doc! ASAP!
Reply:you only have TSS if you leave the tampon in for like 14 hours, if you did, then go see a doctor. if you didnt youre fine
Reply:Toxic Shock Syndrome comes from leaving tampons in too long. It is characterized by a red rash, kind of looks like a sunburn, which then starts to peel, especially on the feet. If you are experiencing these symptoms go to your doctor or ER right now.
Reply:You get TSS from not changing tampons. If you keep them in too long, the bacteria will get you ill (TSS).
Reply:Some girls have BADBADBAD periods.

It%26#039;s like crazy how bad some girls have it.

That might be what%26#039;s going on with you.

Regardless-I would go to the hospital and get it checked out.
Reply:the tss is something that you could not go without treating long (within days) and still be alive. it would also come with a high fever. you may just have bad periods, i get like that. going on birth control helps.

you don%26#039;t have tss, but you should still talk to your mom about the severity of your periods. though it%26#039;s not urgent, you should see a doc. there are things you can to to make it better.
Reply:Tell your mom and tell her to take you to the doctor. Don%26#039;t ask some random person on here.
Reply:get off the computer and go to the ER.
Reply:chances are you dont have tss. i get these syptoms all the time and it means you are not drinking a lot of water. plus how can u have tss when u first started out when u werent using tampons? Dosent make sense. plus if it goes untreated tss can kill you. (not trying to scare u) but its true. if you are really worried go to the doctor or to the hospital as soon as possible! and from now on use pads because u are a little too young to be wearing tampons. theres no point. And when u do start wearing tampons again use them during the day for 5-6 hours and then use a pad again. i know most people will tell you to put a new one in before you go to bed but i never do cause sometimes i can sleep for 9 hours.
Reply:Go to the doctor%26#039;s right now!
Reply:I experience some of the same problems as you when I get my period, regardless if I%26#039;m using tampons or pads. I get bad cramping, stomach aches, diarhea, nausteous feeling, achy, tired and sometimes very dizzy. Some people get very sick feeling during their period. If you have TSS you%26#039;ll most likely have a spiked fever and rashes. It sounds like you%26#039;re experiencing just regular period side effects. Take your temp and if you have a fever go straight to the doctor, otherwise I%26#039;d say you%26#039;re fine. Just start changing your tampons more often and using a lower absorbancy to avoid TSS in the future.
Reply:While I doubt you have toxic shock syndrome (which is a complication of staph infection), you should tell your parents and get to a doctor as soon as possible.

Toxic shock syndrome is caused by exotoxin form staff bacteria. If has been associate with the use of highly absorbent tampons, but that is not the only cause.
Reply:You do not have toxic shock syndrome. You are just experiencing a really bad period. Some women have periods like that. Some months are worse than others. Welcome to the wonderful world of womanhood. Get used to it.
Reply:Even if you don%26#039;t have TSS,

those symptoms are pretty ridiculous

and there are a number of other

things that could be wrong.

Go to the doctor.
Reply:My question is,,,,,, why dont you tell your mom??
Reply:................how about going to a gynecologist? that%26#039;s what they are here for right?
Reply:just calm down. tss kills people if not treated within hours not years. U just have really bad menstrual cycle symptoms. If they hurt as bad as u say tell your mom to take u to an the Dr. where they might prescribe birth control pills to lessen the severity of your menstrual cycle symptoms.

I still hAve a problem - it will not go away?

i still Have PIMPLES i hate them i got sunburnt today so people coulnd see as bad it has worked so fare i thought if i did this it will dry them out %26amp; they will go away - unforcantly i didnt get burnt were my pimples are i only got them on my forhead %26amp; near my ears i thought it was my hair but i wash it once every 2 days i only shampoo because i thought that it will not be as bad because all the oils in condishior %26lt;%26lt; cant spell i also get them on my upper back so what does that mean ?? %26amp; my mum has got me this stuff from the doctors it worked for the first week then they came back again
I still hAve a problem - it will not go away?
I use to have a really bad problem with pimples. I hated it we tried everything and nothing seemed to work. We bought this new kind called biore ( think that%26#039;s how you spell it) anyway, i got the cleaner (use every day and night)

the scrub (just used at night after cleaner)

and the mask (use twice a week)

my face cleared up in no time and if I%26#039;m good at it and keep up with it everyday my face doesn%26#039;t get one pimple on it.

Anything to cure this dry, dead skin?

Ok, i%26#039;m sure this is common, but i have had this dry, scaly, peeling dead skin (the only way i can describe it is like a sunburn peeling... dead skin) on my sides for years and I have tried all kinds of moistiorizers and it keeps coming back. I have tried scrubbing hard in the shower and it will come back. It doesn%26#039;t hurt, it just looks bad. Please help if you have any advice to what it might be. I don%26#039;t have the money to go to a dermatologist, but if this is only cured by medication by a dermatologist, then ok. But i just want to know if there are any home cures for it. Thanks.
Anything to cure this dry, dead skin?
You can try mixing light olive oil with sugar to make a paste (more sugar than oil) keep it in a air tight container don%26#039;t let the water in it. Right before you get out of the shower turn it off and take some of the mix and rub on the area ,you don%26#039;t have to rub hard. then turn the water back on and rinse off, you dont have to wash again. Try this a couple times a week ad see if it helps. Good Luck!!
Anything to cure this dry, dead skin?
actually all i can think of is you going to the dermatologist as uve tried scrubbing and moisturizers already.
Reply:I would try this soft e lotion stuff. it sounds ligit. and it looks like it works really well. I think all you need is just a really good moisturizer to put on everyday.

Reply:I have fairly dry skin and i have always found moisturisers and drinking lot%26#039;s of water hydrate the skin. Dead sea products are really good that gets rid of the skin and hemp is good for really dry skin. You can get it in the body shop and it also keeps the skins moisture so it won%26#039;t crack. They have dermatologists in the hospital, so go to your GP and if it%26#039;s that bad they%26#039;ll refer you to the dermatologist. It doesn%26#039;t cost anything.
Reply:I had the same thing on my face... Try OLAY Total Control, OLAY 7-Effect, skin products from Vichy (forgot product names), and a scrub gel all at the same time. Helped me...
Reply:Hi, I have been using a body serum and body lotion from Arbonne for the past few months. My skin has become severely dry due to a disease I have and medications. I started using these products and my skin no longer is dry and flaky and I%26#039;m not scratching myself raw. You can view it at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com in their online catalog. The only thing is they only ship to the U.S. and Canada. Good luck to you.

One of my fav jokes?

TO MY DEAR WIFE:

During the past year I have tried to make love to you 365 times.

I have succeeded 36 times, which is an average of once every ten days.

The following is a list of why I did not succeed more often:

54 times the sheets were clean

17 times it was too late

49 times you were too tired

20 times it was too hot

15 times you pretended to be sleep

22 times you had a headache

17 times you were afraid of waking the baby

16 times you said you were too sore

12 times it was the wrong time of the month

19 times you had to get up early

9 times you said weren%26#039;t in the mood

7 times you were sunburned

6 times you were watching the late show

5 times you didn%26#039;t want to mess up your new hairdo

3 times you said the neighbors would hear us

9 times you said your mother would hear us

Of the 36 times I did succeed, the activity was not satisfactory because:

6 times you just laid there

8 times you reminded me there%26#039;s a crack in the ceiling

4 times you told me to hurry up and get it over with

7 times I had to wake you and tell you I finished

1 time I was afraid I had hurt you because I felt you move

======================================...

TO MY DEAR HUSBAND:

I think you have things a little confused. Here are the reasons you didn%26#039;t get more than you did:

5 times you came home drunk and tried to screw the cat

36 times you did not come home at all

21 times you didn%26#039;t come with energy

33 times you came too soon

19 times you went soft before you got in

38 times you worked too late

10 times you got cramps in your toes

29 times you had to get up early to play golf

2 times you were in a fight and someone kicked you in the balls

4 times you got it stuck in your zipper

3 times you had a cold and your nose was running

2 times you had a splinter in your finger

20 times you lost the motion after thinking about it all day

6 times you came in your pajamas while reading a dirty book

98 times you were too busy watching TV

Of the times we did get together:

The reason I laid still was because you missed and were screwing the sheets.

I wasn%26#039;t talking about the crack in the ceiling, what I said was, %26quot;Would you prefer me on my back or kneeling?%26quot;

The time you felt me move was because you farted and I was trying to breathe.

How to tan without sunburining?

i have a pale body (farmers tan) and i want to quickly NATURALLY tan it with out gettin sunburn help me please
How to tan without sunburining?
As odd as this may sound mix half red vinegar and half water in a spray bottle and mist over your skin. Lay out and tan for however you see fit and then go take a shower. Your skin may be red tinted cuz of the vinegar but once its washed off Beautiful Tan!!! lol. I have used it and its great when you are first starting off to tan for the summer.
How to tan without sunburining?
cover your self with water proof sun screen then get wet and lay down till the water dries and repeat!
Reply:thats a tough one,,i have pale skin as well and can burn so easy,,try a sun clinic, you can tan gradually and saftely,,or just go for fake tan and put sun screen on top,you can get natural looking ones these days
Reply:So, no tanning beds or spray tans for you???

Then lay out in a bathing suit, bikini or nude if you like with some sunblock-at least SPF 15. I guess you could get a lower SPF. Most people use SPF 30 not to burn.

As you get a base tan(nice bronzed skin color), you can stay out longer and will get darker without burning.
Reply:well its hard to get a nice tan when you have pale skin.my skin is not pale so its easy for me but you have to go to a pharmacy store and get a sun protecting cream.the kind that gets you tan but protects you too
Reply:put some sun screen on and then get in the water and then do it over.

Jalapeno oil burn help please???

I cut jalapenos today for salsa, now my hand is on fire!!! How do I stop the acid from burning me?? I%26#039;ve tried washing, baking soda, epsom salts, milk soak, lidocaine sunburn relief gel, lanacane spray, NOTHING WORKS!!!!! I even did what webmd said and tried to soak in vegetable oil, only made it worse. Cant find pres nurse advice line # and I%26#039;m not desperate enough to go ER yet. any WORKING solutions to neutralize it please? ice water feels great, but pain returns as soon as I take it out.
Jalapeno oil burn help please???
You%26#039;ve got something more going on than a freaking jalapeno oil burn. You might be having an allergic reaction to the oil, or to one of the many remedies you%26#039;ve said you%26#039;ve triend. Or, you might have hurt your hand in some other way. Try benadryl, and if that helps it was an allergic reaction. If not, try soaking it in a large volume of room temperature water to allow whatever substances you%26#039;ve got on your hand to diffuse out into the water. If your hand starts to swell, go to a hospital!
Jalapeno oil burn help please???
If you use Milk this will take the burn away.
Reply:Try sugar water. Sugar helps to alleviate pepper in the mouth - perhaps it will work on the hands.
Reply:that is odd. must of been some spicy jalapenos! i would put neosporin on it. it will heal it and it has ingredients that numb pain.
Reply:LOADS OF ICE.... Take some antiallergics like claritin/ benadryl. Some Cortisone cream 2 times in a day... It will take sometime before the burning settles. Avoid soap and warm water.

Remember next time Either readymade salsa or ask someone else to cut the jalepenos.

What states have laws concerning consumer refunds for services rendered?

I recently paid cash for a month%26#039;s supply of tanning at a local salon. I have tanned before for longer periods of time with no problem. However, this time I tanned for a shorter period of time than I usually do and received a sunburn, which for me causes very pruritic (itchy) reactions. I have never used this salon before and want to get a refund and cancel my contract. The attendant told me they do not issue refunds. What laws do I have working on my side and how can I utilize those to receive recompense for the (perceived) harm brought against me?
What states have laws concerning consumer refunds for services rendered?
In my experience, your best bet (free of charge) is contacting agencies like Better Business Bureau or Dept. of Consumer Affairs in your area. They will contact the business owner and most often they will refund your money promptly to avoid this type of hassle. Good Luck!

Random thought lol, is it bad for your skin to tan WITH suntanlotion?

and not get a sunburn just a tan?
Random thought lol, is it bad for your skin to tan WITH suntanlotion?
Yes its still bad. While your not burning your skin, your still baking it, thats why it turns brown. It can still cause skin cancer, and wrinkles at an early age, skin discolorations etc....
Random thought lol, is it bad for your skin to tan WITH suntanlotion?
Everything is bad for your skin one way or another.

Better off just staying pale, and using lotion sparingly !
Reply:pale isnt bad. and if you didnt wear suntan lotion, you would just get a giant burn rahter than a tan. hmm, red or tan?

What to do about skin---peeling problems??
aloe vera lotion
Reply:hi
Reply:keep peeling!
Reply:A good lotion and I would try maybe a light facial scrub nothing with apricot shells or sugar but ones with the beads in it
Reply:Try exfoliating with a sensitive type product and apply aloe vera lotion/gel, that really helps.
Reply:put on some lotion and rub it in and do it every not until it goes away! It worked for me! I recommend Jurgens
Reply:Omg the exact same thing happened 2 me like 4 days ago but its better now, what i did was I got Noxcema and solarcaine, first wash ur face very gently with warm water [[not hot water]] and soap, after that put he solarcaine on and then the noxcema,it will take a couple days 2 get better but when u do go outside, wear sunscreen, and/or a hat! good luck!
Reply:try Noxzema it works great for taking the heat out of a sunburn so it should moisten your skin and make it feel better

It hurts to be touched on the left side of my body. WHY? Serious answers only please!?

It%26#039;s only on the left side from my knee to shoulder, front and back. It hurts for about 5 days then goes away. It kind of feels like a really bad sunburn and there is no rash. This happens about 1-2 times a year. What is it? How do I fix it?

It sounds like some kind of nerve disorder. See a Dr.

Would you rather watch NFL games at home or live?

Personally speaking, I had rather watch them at home. I can sit in a comfortable chair and go to the fridge whenever I want and not have to pay $3.50 for a warm 20 ounce soda. I don%26#039;t have to smell funky beer breath or have to stand up to be able to see the game because there is nobody in front of me. I can go pee without standing in a line a mile long. If I don%26#039;t like the way the game is going I can switch over to another game or flip back and forth between several games. I don%26#039;t have to park 5 blocks away and fear the whole time that something has happened to my car or will I be able to remember where I parked. I don%26#039;t have to worry about sunburn or freezing to death or getting drenched by a rainstorm. What do you think? Can you come up with more reasons to watch the game at home?
Would you rather watch NFL games at home or live?
Home. I would say a game a year would be nice (not that I do that --seats that arn%26#039;t nosebleeders are freaking expensive), just to have the experiece, but it would have to be (for me) vs. someone who I know we%26#039;d win against, because 1) if it%26#039;s a blowout and you loose, it would probably be boring and you%26#039;d feel like you wasted money 2) if it%26#039;s close and you blow it (Chargers v Ravens %26gt;_%26lt;) then you%26#039;d be angry (atleast I would, I was storming around the house that day) and feel like you wasted the money (though not as much of a waste if you played good before you blew it).

Plus all of the reasons most people have stated. The comforts of home are nice, especially if you, lets say, start to feel pretty bad (health wise) in the middle of the game, you could be in the restroom and just turn up the TV. Plus you have instant replay and different angles so you can see how wrong the referees are.
Would you rather watch NFL games at home or live?
Live because u get into the game while at the house u dont pay as much attention except if u%26#039;re a reallly huge fanatic.
Reply:Sitting in the wrong seats during any baseball or football game can be boring, but, there is that certain something that makes being there special, especially when you don%26#039;t have season tickets.

Would you feel the same way about the Superbowl..?
Reply:Home Cheaper i agree with you
Reply:Now wait a minute here! You%26#039;ve influenced our answers by giving this argument...now I am going to say, live. Only because you said on TV. With live, you can go with a friend, and then to the bar afterwards. Live, you can tell your friends on monday you were there. Live - you can watch the chick behind you lift up her jersey. Live - you can have the experience of actually being there instead of being locked up at home or in a smelly or smokey bar. Live - a great bonding experience with a family member. Live - get there early and watch them practice.
Reply:This is a funky long question!

ANSWER: LIVE
Reply:you must not know what you are missing. There is nothing like being there. The bathroom line isn%26#039;t long cause most people are in thier seats. In NFL stadiums you can see well over the person in front of you. And there is always the 40 ft screen. The beer is cold and is more like a 40 oz but cost like 6.00. and You don%26#039;t park at the stadium you ride a shuttle.

I have been to several NFL games I sat in the press bx so I didn%26#039;t miss any of the other games because there are TV%26#039;s in the press box. But we were not allowed to cheer in the Press box so I always wished I could be out with the fans.

Can%26#039;t check your fantasy football teams progress at the stadium.

And if you%26#039;re getting bored with the game, turn it to some other game.
Reply:when i had season tix,i really loved seeing the play develop which you dont get to see on t.v. because they only show what they want.but it was a long ride home if your team lost.
Reply:I%26#039;d rather be at home for an NFL game unless it%26#039;s a really big-time rivalry game like Oakland at San Diego or Green Bay at Chicago. Then I%26#039;d rather be there just to enjoy the noise that 60 or 70 thousand idiots make rooting for whichever team is theirs.

The same goes for college. I would definitely rather be at a Georgia-Florida or an Ohio State-Michigan game, but I%26#039;d rather be sitting in my chair in my sweats with a cold one and a pizza for anything else.

Football rules!
Reply:Home for NFL Live for college
Reply:Sitting at home watching the game is nice. However if ever given the chance to see a game inperson I would do it. The cost is what keeps me from doing this though.
Reply:Rather watch the games at home. Most college football(bigger football programs) and NFL games the hometown fans stand throughout the game.

I know the fans are supporting their team. But you can see just as much sitting down ... yelling and clapping.
Reply:good ques.going 2 a game theirs nuthin like it ,but u just don%26#039;t get the converge u would if u watch it at home +cheaper u sit at home comfortably with a beer in 1 and ur girl taking care of bizznass in the other....holla
Reply:Home even though I am going a pro game this weekend.
Reply:at home hands down. NFl games are obnoxious sometimes. Drunks fighting over the outcome, no real brotherhood like you have in college either. At home you have your family, your chair, your fridge, your remote to change it once your team is either down too much or up too much, or even when you want to check on other games. And yes, no weather factor. I totally am for at home.
Reply:Oh at home of course. I can put my Patriots blanket on the couch, with my Patriots jacket on, my beer in my Patriots koozie and watch an awesome game.

Oh it%26#039;s nice to have the potty breaks without having to wait in a mile long line and miss the game.
Reply:depends on the game. if it was a big game like playoffs or superbowl, i would love to go. Any other game i would rather be at home relaxing, able to see whats happing, instant replays, and such. also nothing beats a BBQ and some green smoking during the game

Why do they act like a darker skin tone makes you a better person?

I got very light skin and so I have to use a lot of sun cream. we sometimes go to the swimming pool with our class and they always say that I shouldnt use so much suncream because I wont get tanned this way. I told them hundreds of times that I never get tanned and only get sunburned when I dont use sunscreen. they just dont have no clue

but is it even worse at school. people call me a corpse because of my skin tone(I know I dont look like that but I guess they just think its fun to offend me).

today one of my classmates even asked me if I had a skin sickness because I use so much sun cream.

and then they say I should use dark make-up to make my skin look darker. but what for? I like my look so whats their problem?! they act like they are better because of their skin (theyre white too so its not a big difference).

do any of you have the same problem? and dont tell me that I dont have to worry and that Im pretty because I know that I just would like to know whats wrong with them.

i have the opposite problem; in my family im the darkest so im always made fun of and ridiculed. i wished for the longest time that i had been born with a fairer complexion but you gotta work with what you have. you may be tired of hearing this but just ignore those jerks and be proud of what you look like. its all about location; there are parts of the world where having pale skin is looked upon with the highest regard. for all those kids at school who taunt you there are a million others who would kill to be in your shoes (skin).
Why do they act like a darker skin tone makes you a better person?
I am also very pale, they are cruel morons
Reply:it does.
Reply:They are just jealous. Who cares what people think. I too have a white complexion and I am a hispanic.
Reply:It%26#039;s sad, but it%26#039;s human nature to discriminate based on differences. Being tan is associated with fitness because many fit people spend a lot of time in the sun, but there%26#039;s no real connection.

There%26#039;s nothing wrong with naturally pale skin. It even looks sexy on some women. Just ignore these people, don%26#039;t give them any indication you care what they say, and eventually they%26#039;ll leave you alone.
Reply:i got no idea why people care bout tanning so much. its kinda creepy in a way when some white kid comes up to me and they%26#039;re like, %26quot;you%26#039;re so tan! i wish i was tan as you!%26quot;

i dont like it

but you be proud of your color! who cares what those fakies think? you%26#039;re white, you%26#039;re supposed to be white. there%26#039;s nothing u can do about it. its those dumb kids that%26#039;re trynna be something they%26#039;re not. they%26#039;ll be regretting tanning once they get wrinkly skin n cancer
Reply:people say like that because its in trend to have a tan look. and they also think that if they want a look like that, so does everyone too.but it is not so. u should always be a trend setter and not a trend follower.

Reply:You know, you might want to point out that all that sun can damage your skin cells. Years ago when my sister was in her late teens she%26#039;d go out and tan with her friends. She%26#039;d even get real dark and it went so far sometimes that she%26#039;d come in terribly sunburned.

Anyway, by the time she was 25 she looked pretty old. The crulest shock was having one of her friends from her youth remark about how she liked her laugh lines in her face. My sister came home in tears after that because you normally don%26#039;t have that pronounced a set of laugh lines until your much older.

Does it have to be hot to get a tan?

I was on the phone with my boyfriend earlier tonight talking about an outdoor event we%26#039;re going to on Friday. The forecast calls for clear and sunny skies. He said that he hopes it is hot enough outside to get a tan. I said, %26quot;I don%26#039;t think it matters how hot it is, the fact that it will be sunny is enough for you to get a tan.%26quot; He disagreed and said it also needs to be pretty warm, if not hot. So, which of us is right? I thought it was possible to get a sunburn in the winter, but I%26#039;m not really outside in the winter.

Thanks in advance! I couldn%26#039;t seem to get the keywords right to figure it out on Google!
Does it have to be hot to get a tan?
Good question, so I did some research.....

9 Sun Myths, Busted!

Sometimes it can be hard to tell what%26#039;s true and what%26#039;s not about the sun. Here are the most common sun myths and the real story behind them.

Myth 1. There is such a thing as a healthy tan.

Fact: No way, Jose. A tan means your skin is damaged. That%26#039;s not healthy. Enough said.

Myth 2. It%26#039;s a good idea to get a %26quot;base%26quot; tan before you go on vacation.

Fact: Since a tan isn%26#039;t good for your skin, getting a base tan isn%26#039;t good for it either.

Myth 3. Tanning beds aren%26#039;t bad for you.

Fact: Tanning beds are just as bad for you, if not worse, than the sun. Just like the sun, they increase your chance of getting skin cancer. Plus, they damage your skin and practically guarantee a wrinkly future.

Myth 4. Wearing a sunscreen or sunblock means you can stay out in the sun all day.

Fact: This one is tough. It seems that as long as you wear sunscreen or sunblock, it would be okay to stay in the sun all day. But that%26#039;s not the case. Wearing sunscreen or sunblock is just one of many ways to protect your skin and it%26#039;s not enough by itself. Hats, umbrellas, and long clothes should be used along with sunscreen or sunblock.

Myth 5. You can%26#039;t get burned on a cloudy day.

Fact: Not true, my friends. At least 80% of the sun%26#039;s rays reach us on cloudy days. That%26#039;s plenty to do damage.

Myth 6. Clothing is enough protection against the sun.

Fact: Clothing offers some sun protection, but not nearly as much as you might think. And a wet, light-colored T-shirt offers almost no protection.

Myth 7. If you have dark skin, you don%26#039;t need sunblock.

Fact: Everyone should wear sunblock or sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. True, darker skin has more natural protection than lighter skin, but it still needs lots of protection. Just like light-skinned people, dark-skinned people are at risk for skin cancer, wrinkles, and permanent skin damage.

Myth 8. If you%26#039;re in the car you don%26#039;t need sun protection.

Fact: Nope. The sun%26#039;s rays can go through car windows. That%26#039;s why everyday sun protection is a must.

Myth 9. You don%26#039;t need to worry about sun protection in the winter.

Fact: You should protect your skin from the sun all year round, especially if you live in an always-warm place like Florida. Sun protection is also very important on the ski slopes since the sun%26#039;s rays are stronger when you%26#039;re high up. back to top

Hope this helps %26amp; have fun! :)
Does it have to be hot to get a tan?
no, from what I understand you can get sun burned on a clowdy day.....
Reply:It actually doesn%26#039;t matter the temperature as long as you get enough sun exposure, that being said, although its cold out in the winter, because of the reflection of the sun on the snow, this will concentrate the reflective rays to your skin making them more intense, some people have gotten a pretty weird sun burn on their face while out in the winter weather, funny.

This is the same while being near water, the water will reflect the rays and you will get tanned and or burnt.

I pay attention to the small things and sometimes it worries me lol

Good Luck, and all the best! :]
Reply:That is really not true at all! here%26#039;s proof: My friends went on a ski trip in Colorado and being dumb none of them brought any type of sunblock and since the sun reflects off the snow, they got the worst sunburned faces ever. They came to school all red and peely. It was bad. I%26#039;ve also heard that when it%26#039;s cloudy outside that is one of the worst times to NOT wear any sun protection because you will get burned pretty bad. I am half mexican and have only burned once in my life and I went to the pool (on a cloudy day mind you* and it had just rained the day before and its was due to rain even more later on in that afternoon) and me being stupid didn%26#039;t really think much about it and I (and my friend also) ended up with sunbured shoulders which left me with a really bad tan line. My skin looks white where the bathing suit straps were covering it compared to the exposed part of my shoulder. It hasn%26#039;t faded either!!! But hopefully my explanations will convince him that he was SO wrong, and you were right all along! lol
Reply:No, as long as the sun is out, and it always is during the day, you can get a tan. It is possible to get a sunburn in the winter, though not likely because you%26#039;re so covered up. Anytime you%26#039;re subjected to UV rays, a tan can occur.
Reply:Not nessecarily, UV rays can come through clouds pretty much just the same. It only appears that they wouldn%26#039;t.
Reply:The sun is a giant ball of expolding hydrogen, which emits 3 separate and intrinsically linked types of emissions.

1) Visible light - this is the only part that makes the sun visible, and brightens our days. It has no effect on human skin, but can burn or damage parts of the human eye. I strongly recommend sunglasses. The sun does not emit enough visible light to make it feel hot, but visible light in the form of a laser can be harmful. Could cover distorts visible light by reflecting it%26#039;s path.

2) Ultraviolet light - this type of light is invisible to human eyes, but can be viewed with the correct technological equipment. It also has no effect on human skin, or on human eyes.

3) Ultraviolet Radiation - this emmission is not light at all, but literally a form of radiation. It still exists on the light scale, but is a closer cousin of electromagnetic radiation or nuclear radiation than it is to visible light, and should be thought of as just as dangerous. A person cannot feel radiation hitting their skin, and there is no immediate observable effect the way you can see visible light hits you because you become brighter. The effects take longer to present. Cloud cover has less of an effect on how much radiation reaches the Earth%26#039;s surface than it does on light, which means you can get sunburnt in the middle of a cloudly day. It is very difficult to get sunburnt at sunrise or sunset, or in the middle of winter, because the radiation has to travel through more of the Earth%26#039;s atmosphere to reach you, thus reducing it%26#039;s intensity. It is still possible though. The amount of actual heat you feel when in the sun is due to the cumulative effect of all three emmissions hitting you, your skin, objects around you and the air, all of which heat up and release the heat sequentially and simultaneously. However, because of the time delay of the effect of radiation, on a sunny day you can warm up quickly with almost no absorbtion of radiation, and on a cold day you could spend all day in the sun and still be cold yet get a nice tan or third degree burns. To read more about ultraviolet radiation only, visit [http://www.cancer.org.au/content.cfm?ran... and for information about what to look for on the news about how much radiation is getting through to your city, and what the warnings mean, visit [http://www.arpansa.gov.au/uvindex/daily/... Remember, %26quot;slip, slop, slap, slide, shade%26quot;, whenever you go outside.

How to take care of my chapped lips?

For the past few days, I%26#039;ve been applying lip gloss to my chapped lips and for some weird reason, they won%26#039;t go away. Any ideas?

FOR THE RECORD: I went fishing with my dad last Saturday and my face was lightly sunburned.
How to take care of my chapped lips?
Dehydration, drink lots of water....
How to take care of my chapped lips?
lip balm
Reply:Get a chapstick with SPF in it.

It%26#039;ll help protect you in the future.
Reply:If vasseline doesnt help, make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Dehydration can make your lips chapped
Reply:Burt%26#039;s Bees Raspberry Lip Balm is great!
Reply:Hi

What you need to help you honey and give you the same glossy affect is vaseline, just apply over your lipstick or on to natural lips and they will shine and stay moist and soft, and you can apply as many times as you want. Hope this helps xxxxxx
Reply:I had a similar problem once, and the only solution i found, and WORKED, was to add vaseline to them and drink a lot of water. You might be dehydrated and the skin on the lips is very sensitive (hence why kissing is so good). Go with the vaseline, and water, you%26#039;ll be just fine.
Reply:for really chapped lips, chap stick doesn%26#039;t really seem to work for me, but carmex or any type of salve with medication in it, applying as often as needed seems to work over a short period of time.
Reply:i hear u! I use lip rescuewith sea butter.i love it i sea improve ment right a way use it to believe it.
Reply:chap sticks and vaseline works.
Reply:lip gloss is a superficial application...you%26#039;re dehydrated. drink lots of water and dont lick your lips.
Reply:Well, if they%26#039;re sunburned, then the burn has to heal. Oil, grease, and the stuff in lip gloss and chapstick won%26#039;t help. Try some plain lanolin without alcohol or some solarcain (tastes horrible, but helps.)
Reply:Lip gloss doesn%26#039;t really help chapped lips, especially if you use a cheaper kind with no SPF. (Most of them don%26#039;t have SPF)

Here%26#039;s a trick to keep your lips soft and still looking cute.

Apply lip balm to your bare lips, then lip color, and last lip gloss.

You may not use lip color, or it may be in your lip gloss, so the second step isn%26#039;t neccesary. But always put lip balm on before anything else.

If your lips are %26quot;flaky%26quot; and it is bothering you, then you can take a toothbrush and gently scrub them with warm water. It sounds wierd but it really works. Try and use a toothbrush designed for children or babies because the bristles are softer and more gentle on your lips.

Apply lip balm before you go to sleep, when you wake up, and during the day.....

In a few weeks your lips should be soft and kissable.

Hope this helps. =)
Reply:Get a lip balm called CARMEX it%26#039;s medicated and works wonders on chapped lips. It comes in a small white jar with a yellow lid. Most pharmacies carry it.

For the future, get yourself a chapstick with SPF to protect your lips from the sun. If you forget, you can always put normal sunblock on them when you put it on the rest of your face.
Reply:That happened to me, in the past when we went deep ocean fishing. You got sunburned including your lips. All you do now is drink lots of water.and put a little vaseline jelly, which is indicated for sunburns.
Reply:gloss is not going to work cause that is cosmetic you need somethign that is medicated.... I shovled snow for like 3 days and had very bad chapped lips and around the lips too I used Blistex Silk and Shine with spf 15 and it worked wonders in like 3 to 4 days. Its about $2 or $3 + but is worth it! It also isn%26#039;t like a chapstick it is not waxy it is alot smoother!

Blistex also has tons of different kinds check out the web page below!
Reply:go by some chap stick from the store
Reply:There is a product sold called Chap Stick. It should help you.

MARiJUANA, what do you say now?

There is a misconception that marijuana kills brain cells but what actually happens is this: Neurons are made of two parts; the cell bodies and axons. The cell bodies contain fiberous extentions called dendrites which receive information from the axon terminals of the adjacent cell. That information is then channeled through the neuron to the axon terminal and again to the dendrite of another cell. Frequent marijuana use will cause the dendrites to shorten therefore widening the synapses between cells making information get lost in transmission. Heres the kicker... Even with regular use, dendrites grow back after a month or two of not smoking. Here is an essay I recently wrote about the subject.

A letter to the religious right involved in Reagan%26#039;s war on marijuana

I am not a Christian nor am I a pothead, however, after speculating over the role of the Christian right in the criminalization of marijuana usage and possession, I found it necessary to make an argument using Christian methods against it. I feel that it is necessary to add that I was raised christian so I do not intend to use bible verses that I know nothing about. I know the bible just as well and better than many Christians. I am also a psychology student in college and the psychological information I will use in my argument came directly from textbooks and lectures on the subject. I have two arguments to discuss, the first using strictly biblical elements and the second with human physiological elements to enhance and accelerate the original.

The arguments involved are sophomorically simple.

Genesis 1:9-13 Says this: 9And God said, %26quot;Let the waters beneath the sky be gathered into one place so dry ground may appear.%26quot; And so it was. 10God named the dry ground %26quot;land%26quot; and the water %26quot;seas.%26quot; And God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, %26quot;Let the land burst forth with every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant. And let there be trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. The seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.%26quot; And so it was. 12The land was filled with seed-bearing plants and trees, and their seeds produced plants and trees of like kind. And God saw that it was good. 13This all happened on the third day.

27-31: 27

So God created people in his own image;

God patterned them after himself;

male and female he created them.

28God blessed them and told them, %26quot;Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals.%26quot; 29And God said, %26quot;Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30And I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food.%26quot; And so it was. 31Then God looked over all he had made and he saw that it was excellent in every way. This all happened on the sixth day.

The kicker... After God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden, he had this to say to them: 3 17And unto Adam He said, %26quot;Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, `Thou shalt not eat of it,%26#039; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

18Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field.

These three excerpts tell us two things: God created the plethora of plants that we have on Earth and gave them to humans and animals for their consumption. Now before the reader suggests that we were to eat the fruits and seeds were for the birds, the second part of my argument must be considered. Marijuana and tobacco are the only drugs that grow naturally and do not have to be processed and synthesized before consumption. Alcohol has to be processed and it is legal. Marijuana is not. The devil, serpent, satan, whatever you want to call the spirit of darkness has never and will never have the authority to change the godly composition of Gods creations. The devil did not put the active ingredients in the marijuana plant and it would be impossible for him to cause the second part of my argument involving the physiology of humans nervous systems. The only power he has is to deceive and deception cannot change the fact that God made plants and people the way we are physiologically.

The active ingredients in marijuana pass through the blood-brain barrier and enter the central nervous system where they bind to three different receptor sites on the neurons. These receptors are called Delta 9 THC, 2-AG, and Anamine receptors. These receptor sites are activated only by cannabinoids from the marijuana plant and nothing else. Nicotine works in much the same way though there is only one receptor. All other drugs work by manipulating natural receptors in the brain that neurotransmitters use normally. For example, PCP works as a glutamate antagonist, blocking the natural processes of glutamate which works in opposition to the neurotransmitter dopamine. When glutamate is blocked, dopamine takes over and too much dopamine in the brain causes hallucinations, odd behavior, and delusional thinking. Cocaine works as an agonist for dopamine and other neurotransmitters causing more to be in the system than normal. Unlike marijuana, drugs like PCP, cocaine, heroine, designer drugs, etc. work by taking over the natural processes in the brain and bastardizing them to work in ways that do not occur naturally.

Marijuana, unlike any other drug, does not affect the brainstem. The brainstem is a system of regions in the back of the brain at the base of the spinal cord that monitors vital statuses like breathing rate and heart rate. There are neurotransmitter receptor sites all over the brain including the brainstem but there are no cannabinoid receptors in the brainstem. Take alcohol just as an example: by opening the sites for Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter, the nervous system slows down. Since alcohol affects the brainstem, breathing and heart rate slow down too. An overdose of alcohol can slow systems down to the point where they stop and the user can die. Because it does not affect the brainstems regulation of vital functioning, marijuana is the only drug that someone cannot die of an overdose from.

God designed our bodies. God designed our nervous systems. God pieced our brains together long before scientists figured out how they worked. God put these three receptors in our brains on purpose. There must be some significance there. He created these three receptor sites in our brains before the original sin was committed. Many religions have considered the marijuana plant holy in the past. Mind you, I do not advocate a world where everyone smokes pot all the time. Anything can be abused. Too much of anything is bad Too much food can cause obesity or heart problems, Too much sun will cause a sunburn, Too much water can kill you, too much vitamin A will cause blindness, Too much alcohol can cause liver damage. Im not advocating that everyone should participate in marijuana consumption either. The only argument I am making is that to criminalize a plant created by God that human bodies are designed to process is not only un-Christian but unethical, immoral, illogical, ignorant, and an infringement on our rights as Americans to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

And here%26#039;s a governmental idea: Why not make money on the stuff instead of spending millions os dollars in court fees and incarceration? Option 1: Keep the drug illegal but instead of putting people in jail or giving them jail time, write them a ticket! Make $85-150 on a possession offense (depending on the amount) and keep non-violent criminals out of the jail system. Option 2: Make it legal. Do you have any idea how much money is to be made in excise tax!? Lets say that an ounce of marijuana costs $5 to produce which is an overshot taking all factors into consideration. The tobacco company sells it at a base price of $50 (a 900% profit) and the government places a $50 excise tax on the product keeping store prices around the same as street value of roughly $100 per ounce. Specialty grades can still be sold at street value and companies and the government will make even more money. Sometime, I should do some research comparing the cost of incarceration/probation/court costs vs. the potential profit of taxes and fines.

Note: The citation idea would only apply to those who get caught. The tax idea applies to everyone.
MARiJUANA, what do you say now?
Blaw Blaw Blaw. What a load of crapola!

Marijuana impairs thought. It impaires decision making.

You see two choices: The current path and a legalized path. I see the legalized path as a worse solution. More deaths. More mothers and children killed by legalized pot heads. Sure lets save some money on the war on drugs. Let%26#039;s just kill a few more Americans instead.

PS: I think you talk too much...
MARiJUANA, what do you say now?

Reply:i say pass it over!!!
Reply:%26quot;no one in the history of mankind has ever died directly from marijuana use, EVER. it is simply not toxic enough to kill you%26quot;

the only fault i have with the argument you posted is the use of scripture. you just cant have a logical debate when you bing god into the picture, it doesnt work.
Reply:wow, after all that, all

i can say is you go.
Reply:How did you fit that much into your details?! Marijuana is really bad for your lungs, throat, mouth, and teeth! Hellooo.
Reply:That sounds more like the study for Alcohol. Marijuana%26#039;s main known problem is the lost of memory. New studies show that there is a reduction in blood flow in the brain. It is caused by plaque forming in the blood vessel in the brain. It sounds similar to Alzheimer. The damage to the brain from alcohol was found to be repairable, by the methodology you describe above. We have not found a way to repair the damage to a brain on marijuana. By the way THC your body forever and stop cherry picking studies.
Reply:The Bible also states that all things are permissable but not all things are beneficial. (1 Cor. 6:12)

I used to smoke pot, so I know first-hand the psychotropic effects it has. Let%26#039;s just say I wouldn%26#039;t want people to get the idea that a joint is the same as a cigarette (tobacco), and can drive or operate heavy machinery under its influence without any potential negative consequences.

That%26#039;s the main reason I have against legalization. If it were legalized, you%26#039;d have a heck of a time busting people who abused it and put others (as well as themselves) in harm%26#039;s way. Having said that, however, I do agree with you that it shouldn%26#039;t be punishable by incarceration. A hefty fine would do nicely, I should think.
Reply:A judge in Canada got it right (see the links). Why do the minority have such power over the majority?

It is the unbelievable waste of tax dollars that really angers me on this issue.

Keeping it legal helps support organized crime. Who do you think is currently running this multi-billion dollar a year cultivation and distribution business now? By making it legal you could be putting a lot of mobsters out of work and reducing politician payouts.
Reply:AMEN
Reply:Good Work!

I agree the bible was a bit much, but overall...

Again...Good work!
Reply:Why do you want your dendrites shortened in the first place? Do you not want your brain to process infomation properly or do you just enjoy the confusion?

Why is the new layer of my skin red, irritated, there are tiny bumps and its itchy?

my face was sunburnt a while ago and my cheeks turned bright red for a few days, than it started to peel.,,, it looked like my face was healed .. but a few days later the redness will come back at the exact same spots.. and a few days later it would peel again...this happened a few times now.. and each time i made the mistake of peeling off the skin when it wasnt ready to be peeled off..this time i waited for it to peel on its on..now all the dead skin has peeled away but the new skin is still slightly red.. there are red tiny bumps in some areas so it feels irritated and itchy? it still feels like my face is hot at times.. i thought this was suppose to stop after the peeling? what is wrong and what can i do to make it better? will this go away.. and how long does it take for new skin to heal?
Why is the new layer of my skin red, irritated, there are tiny bumps and its itchy?
I%26#039;ve never went through this before. Your right, it usually goes away after it peels. I would just go to the doctor. I hope its not getting infected....
Why is the new layer of my skin red, irritated, there are tiny bumps and its itchy?
Sounds like herpes to me.
Reply:You have injured the epidermal layer of skin. It isn%26#039;t healed yet and when you keep peeling the skin you are delaying healing.

The bumps are caused by the burn also.

First, keep your itching under control, you can use aloe vera gel and hydrocortizone cream. If you can do this, you will keep your hands away from the skin and not scratch the itching sensation which will help heal your face.

Wash your face gently with tepid water and a baby shampoo product. Do this twice a day.

Moisturize with Aloe Vera at night and if you have to be in the sun use an SPF moisturizer to protect your face. Try to avoid sunlight while your burn heals.

Use a satin pillowcase to sleep on. Stay away from irritating fabrics touching your face at night.

What is a 'topical ointment'?

I%26#039;ve heard people talk about %26#039;topical ointments%26#039; but really don%26#039;t know what they are. Can you use them on sunburn?
What is a %26#039;topical ointment%26#039;?
Hi! A topical ointment is any medicated cream that you put on your skin. Not to be taken internally. I have found that aloe vera gel (the green stuff) is excellent for sunburn.
What is a %26#039;topical ointment%26#039;?
Use a spray on sunburn treatment. It will hurt less.

Neosporin would be a topical ointment.
Reply:It is an ointment applied to the surface of the skin and not ingested. Suntan oils, lotions, creams, etc. are all topical.

I am always leery of offering tips for the face - because I feel our face is so sensitive you are better off using pure and natural products formulated - as that.

But a good foot/body scrub is olive oil/kosher salt and a hint of real lemon juice and brown sugar -

our body may not be as sensitive as our face -

Otherwise mashing lemon/avocado and cucumber is about the best advice I%26#039;d trust-

You should not scrub your skin when it is sunburned. It is damaged and needs to heal. Use aloe vera or an oil-free lotion on it. Once your skin has healed you can use some sugar or brown sugar in olive oil as a scrub. You can also add honey to it.
Reply:Combine brown sugar, honey and baby oil. For a sugar scrub, start with 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons honey, and baby oil to moisten. This makes a light scrub.

For sunburn I%26#039;ve alway used aloe vera gel, not a scrub.
Reply:I really dont know how but hi

Best sunblocks out there?

Currently I have Sunplay spf 130, and Hawaiian Tropic spf 60+ (I%26#039;ll probably get the spf 70 though).

Any others recommended?

And... YES, I know people say spf 45 is all we need. But I ALWAYS get sunburned, and when I use spf 60 or over lsdt summer, I didn%26#039;t get burned as badly. It%26#039;s very strange too... I constantly reapply and wait 20 minutes before going in the water. I just have really sensitive skin. I don%26#039;t want to get burned at all!
Best sunblocks out there?
Sunblock say put sunblock on 20 t0 30 minutes before you go into the sun they also sujest that you wait the same time before you go into the water because it has to be asorbed into the skin when you get out of the water you have to put it on again or if you are sweeting it will come off so put it on again. Sunblock companies sujest putting it on every hour so maybe you should try that.

Sunscreen, Sunblock and Sunburn: What you should know.

As the summer temperatures start rising, more and more layers of clothing are removed and the quest for outdoor fun ensues. Don%26#039;t let fear of the sun wreak havoc on your summer plans. A little knowledge will go a long way to protect you from sunburn, skin cancer and wrinkles. Simply take precautions to protect your skin from the sun%26#039;s damaging rays and get ready to play.

Through this article you will find out what sunburn is; learn the differences between sunscreen and sunblock; understand what SPF is; and learn the distinctions of water-resistant and waterproof sun protection products.

What you should know about sunburn

Sunburn results when skin cells have been damaged and/or destroyed. The outer layer of the skin is comprised of dead cells on the surface and live cells directly underneath. These live cells continuously produce dead cells to revitalize the surface of the skin. When sunburn occurs, the live cells of the epidermis have been overexposed to the ultraviolet radiation (UVR) of the sun and have been injured or killed. The result is flushed skin, as the blood flow increases in the damaged area and white blood cells work to remove the affected cells. The associated burning pain is actually a reaction from the chemicals released from the damaged cells.

Who%26#039;s at Risk?

Spending long periods of time in the sun with non-protected, exposed skin is a recipe for disaster. And while fair skinned people are more susceptible to sunburn than those with darker skin tones, this doesn%26#039;t mean that dark skin is immune. The truth is that tanned skin has a natural SPF of about 4, while dark skin has an SPF of 8. In addition, certain medications like oral contraceptives and antibiotics may cause increased sensitivity to UVR. Children are also at great risk for sunburn due to their thin, sensitive skin. Dermatologists recommend keeping infants out of the sun, and providing sunscreen for children six months or older; applied to areas not likely to be inadvertently put into their mouths, or that can drip into their eyes. Remember that repeated exposure to the sun%26#039;s ultraviolet radiation is the leading cause of skin cancer in later years.

The difference between Sunscreen and Sunblock

There are two types of products that protect the skin from the sun%26#039;s damaging ultraviolet radiation: chemical and physical products. Sunscreen is classified as chemical, while sunblock is physical.

Sunscreens actually absorb the ultraviolet radiation, thus and reducing the amount of radiation that penetrates the skin. There are two types of ultraviolet light, UVA, often called the %26quot;aging ray%26quot; which weakens the immune system of the skin cell, and UVB, called the %26quot;burn ray%26quot; which causes changes to DNA that can cause abnormal growths in skin cells. While older sunscreens were only effective on UVB, newer formulations are effective on both UVA and UVB. Even people with sensitive skin can find highly effective sunscreen designed to be non-irritating. For example, Pharmaceutical Specialties Vanicream Sunscreen SPF 35 is excellent for those with sensitive skin.

Sunblocks, on the other hand, are classified as physical. As the name implies, they physically block both the UVA and UVB radiation from the skin. Sunblocks used to be thick, white, greasy creams made of either titanium oxide or zinc oxide, but they%26#039;ve become much more user friendly. Consider trying Cotz Transparent Sunblock SPF 58 or Neutrogena%26#039;s Active Breathable Sunblock , which is available in an SPF of 30 or 45; it%26#039;s a waterproof, sweat proof, non-greasy sunblock made for an active daily life.

What%26#039;s an SPF?

Sunblocks and sunscreens are rated with SPF numbers. SPF refers to the %26quot;Sun Protection Factor%26quot; for UVB rays only. A sunscreen with a SPF of 15 will delay sunburn from occurring for 15 times (in minutes) longer than normal if using no protection at all. For example, if it takes someone 20 minutes to sunburn and they applied a sunscreen with an SPF of 15, they would be able to remain in the sun for 300 minutes (15x20). SPF%26#039;s are rated typically from 1 to 60, although there are some products with an even higher rating. While most suggest an SPF of 15 for everyday use, the activity, time of day, time of year, and the duration should all be considered.

What%26#039;s the difference between water-resistant and waterproof?

If you%26#039;re out playing in the water, or perspiring heavily, determining how long a sunscreen or sunblock remains on the skin is very important. The FDA considers a product to be water-resistant if it maintains its SPF rating for at least 40 minutes of water exposure. To secure waterproof status, the FDA states that a product must maintain its SPF rating for more than 80 minutes of exposure. Two highly recommended products are Waterproof Sunblock by Murad and Foundation #4 and #5 by Dermalogica are great choices for your daily regimen. Don%26#039;t be afraid to mix it up either. Blending a lighter or oil-free sunscreen with a sweat proof, waterproof, or rub proof sunblock could be a winning combination for everyday wear.

When choosing your moisturizer, why not try one formulated with SPF? Excellent examples include Extra Protective Moisture Lotion by Eucerin, Dermalogica%26#039;s Sheer Moisture SPF 15, or All-Day Moisture Defense Cream by Peter Thomas Roth. Each one provides a minimum SPF of 15, provides great sun defense, will keep your skin supple, hydrated, and will provide you with a product that pulls double-duty for your busy lifestyle.

After the fact

Don%26#039;t be dismayed if despite the best of intentions, sunburn occurs anyway. This may happen as the result of a missed reapplication, an unexpected outing sans having sunblock or sunscreen on hand, or a forgotten patch of skin. Whatever the reason, After Sun Repair by Dermalogica is just what the doctor ordered for relief and repair after over exposure to the sun. Also, remember that the tops of the feet, the back of the hands, and the back of the knees are the most commonly under-protected or forgotten areas.
Best sunblocks out there?
Yea, your answer is fine, but reapply more often.
Reply:Um, yeah...its called Shade, as in sit in it!
Reply:you need to go to the nearest tanning store and ask them for there best tanning lotion with mainly SPF and that%26#039;s all and see what they can come up with.. it is still possible to get to much sun when you are not in it.. so be careful make sure always have a bottle of aloe around lol.... my husband had the same problem

Are there any correlations with anxiety attacks and sun poisoning?

I was down at the jersey shore today and got a pretty bad sunburn. (although for me, its not even that bad. no blisters.) The ride home (on the parkway) was pretty %26quot;hectic%26quot; and stressful. Ever since I got home I%26#039;ve been feeling kind of sick. Then it started lightening and other things happened (my mom called. she stresses me out to begin with. boy things.) and I REALLY felt like I couldnt breathe. I was just wondering if anyone could help me and connect this feeling sick/tightening of the chest to too much sun? I almost feel like I%26#039;m going crazy. Everything is freaking me out. I know you can feel sick to your stomach at times. I do have a history of anexiety. I just dont know what to do. I almost feel like I could use a trip to the ER. I cant even get to sleep. Any help would be very appreciated.

I am probably too late. However, as a professional counselor, yes, there is a correlation between sun overload and anxiety. I too have the same reaction.

How can i get rid of my tan very....VERY quickly??

okay, ive had a tan because of swimming for my high school team, but now the season is over. because if was stupid, i didnt use sunblock or anything like that and now i got a bad sunburn. is there anything i can do to get rid of it quickly?? i feel all burnt and i jus want my natural skin color back.......which is way lighter than what i aim now.
How can i get rid of my tan very....VERY quickly??
You can%26#039;t get rid of it quickly. However you could put aloe vera gel on it to sooth it and possible keep it from peeling.
How can i get rid of my tan very....VERY quickly??
try rubbing vinegar on it, it takes the stinginess out of a sun burn you may have to apply a couple of times though.
Reply:Yes, the aloe vera gel helps ease the pain. Keep the burn WELL moisturized with lotion or else it will peel. (It might anyway!) You might be thinking you want it to peel off, but the thing is, part of it will peel and part won%26#039;t...then you could be splotchy!!
Reply:I feel the same way as you, except I don%26#039;t mind being tanned I just mined the redness and stinging coming from my skin. If you are very white, you will have to wait acouple of weeks for it to go away. I am mexican so mine should go away by next week. Rub Aloe Vera on it and take a seat...

How do you get rid of a RED NOSE?

My nose always seems to be red and I already use concealer and foundation on it, but then it look like I used too much.

I already tried using a blackhead strip.

I don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s sunburnt. It is very dry now though.

Is there anything to make my nose the same color as my face?!

Maybe I%26#039;m just not applying concealer the right way?
How do you get rid of a RED NOSE?
Have you tried green concealer?

You can get several different brands, maybe you need something that will moisturise because you have dry skin. It would neutralise the redness. Also works on blemishes
How do you get rid of a RED NOSE?
sometimes it has to do with allergies. i had a strange bruise lookng thing on my nose, after surgery it went away. now it is slighty red. I use natural minerals on my nose and cheeks. soft but enough coverage.
Reply:Try getting a green concealer, green counteracts red. you can find it at most drugstores, target, etc.
Reply:try visine for red eyes. it takes the redness right outta zits lol and it should do the same for your nose
Reply:I have this problem too. I think I got it from my mother. She%26#039;s a red head and has that pale rosy skin. My nose gets extremely red when it%26#039;s cold also. even just a few degrees below room temperature. I tried cover up as well, and for awhile it worked, but once winter came around my nose was constantly red. I would recommend you talk to a dermatologist if it%26#039;s really begging to be a problem. it could be just a little rosacea, or something easily treated.

Nipples hurt?

i am a guy and yesterday i was tanning for three hours on my front. and a couple hours after, my body starting hurting and getting red. i already know it%26#039;s sunburn because it hurts like someone is pinching me, but then my left nipple started hurting all of a sudden. and now my left nipple is different from my right one. i am really scared so please someone help me. what is happening? and when i feel my nipple, i can feel there is a hard tissue clogged together.
Nipples hurt?
That happened to a friend of mine. Both of his breasts eventually became like female breasts and he had to have a double mastectomy. Good luck.
Nipples hurt?
OUCH!! I am not a nipple expert, but you should have that checked!!
Reply:mabye it%26#039;s a zit or something. but ewwwwwwwwwwwwww
Reply:happened to my friend, not when he was tanning but it just happened it got like lumpy under his nipple and it hurt and his doctor said the pain will go away soon but it will stay lumpy for a while, and not to worry about it
Reply:Put a cold compress on it. If it%26#039;s sunburn, that will help. You really should have that checked out.

Joke: Has Trickyricky gone to sleep?

Trickyricky falls asleep on the beach for several hours and gets horrible sunburn.

He goes to the hospital and is promptly admitted after being diagnosed with second-degree burns on his legs. He%26#039;s starting to blister and he%26#039;s in agony.

The doctor prescribes continuous intravenous feeding with saline and electrolytes, a sedative and, every four hours, a Viagra pill.

The nurse says, %26#039;What good will Viagra do him?%26#039;

The doctor says, %26#039;It%26#039;ll keep the sheets off his legs.%26#039;

Tanning bed + me =??

Please help me.... I got a sunburn from a tanning. It burns and itches. So far I put anti-itching spray and lotion on it and it still burns and itches. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Tanning bed + me =??
Tanning bed + you = not destined for anything except maybe weird marks. Try Jergens Tanning Lotion; it works so well, and it comes in 3 types (for pale skin, medium, and dark) so it%26#039;s personalized to YOUR skin. Plus, it%26#039;s under $10 and you don%26#039;t have to worry about some weird spot on your skin that might grow into a flesheating cancer thing. I personally think the only ways to tan are to slather on some SPF and go out in a bikini or get some tanning lotion. Tanning showers and beds are just not ... natural.

Good luck with your tan and hope I helped!
Tanning bed + me =??
the very first time i went tanning this happened to me, but it went away in like a week and i never get it anymore...
Reply:A Start
Reply:Aloe gel and time.
Reply:calamine lotion and aloe vera
Reply:My mother got skin cancer from going to the tanning bed twice. That is how quicky it can happen. I think you should go to a docter and get it looked at
Reply:I use to work at a tanning salon and this is normal for some skin types. Just use some aloe vera and it should go away in time. I have pretty fair skin and i burn easy and this happened to me the first time i went but it is normal. After the itching and burning you%26#039;re skin will probably peel but that is normal to so don%26#039;t worry if that happens.

Remember to always tan respsonsibly too =)
Reply:I found a lotion that had aloe and cucumber in it. It cooled down the burn and stopped the itch plus it smelled good!
Reply:Take a shower. Take an antihistamine (bendryl) to bring down the heat and skin reaction. Advil will bring down the inflammation. Lastly use lotion to heal the skin. I prefer to use a after sun lotion. Good luck
Reply:Try using aloe lotion. You can also put baby oil or baby oil lotion on or in your bath. There is really nothing you can do besides moisturize at this point and be more carefully next time.

A PINK GOAT. What would you do?

You%26#039;re walking along the side of the road, and all of a sudden, POOF! A pink goat appears right in front of your very eyes. There he is, his magnificent mane close enough to touch. His glimmering hooves stamping along the train tracks. His horns piercing the blue sky.

A bloodcurdling shriek escapes from the lips of the sunburned goat. You turn your head in the direction his eyes have gone wild to. The biggest, most gargantuan train you have EVER seen is heading full-speed your way.

The pink goat is too stunned to move, and simply stands stationary - mouth gaping, eyes bulging. You run your hand through your hair, thinking, %26quot;What the dump?%26quot;

You quickly scan the surroundings. Duct tape, a quart of cream, sand, cactii, a bowling ball, cheesecake, an iPod, and the movie Bill and Ted%26#039;s Excellent Adventures are the only things you can spot in the vast desert landscape.

You will have to use this tools to save poor Sir Goat.

What will you do?
A PINK GOAT. What would you do?
Let the train hit the goat, salvage the meat, put it in the freezer. Goat saved. The End.
A PINK GOAT. What would you do?
Use the cactii to poke him in the ****...That should get him movin%26#039;....
Reply:i whould turn it in to the FBI or i would kill it
Reply:first i%26#039;ll eat the ipod and listen to music on the cheesecake

put the quart of cream on the tracks so the train will stop immediately.

duct tape the train to the tracks so it cant move

throw the movie at the goat so he runs away
Reply:Hmmm--tricky, clever, and creative....hmmmm...

I would hold out the pie to him and if not, throw a bowling ball on the tracks a little bit closer to the train so it might jack up the train and it%26#039;s tracks.

Hmmmm.....I guessed?

What would YOU do?
Reply:I would try to wake myself up
Reply:Jerked pink goat! Yum. Is that one of my options?
Reply:I don%26#039;t do drugs. lol

Sun/liver spot removal?

I am 28 yrs old and have fair skin. I have never been one for tanning in my younger years %26amp; have never gotten sunburned. Everyday I use SPF 15, I wear a hat when going out %26amp; in general I avoid the sun like the plague. At a very young age I have been anti-age obsessed, unline the other girls my age who would tan. So you can imagine my shock when on my left cheek I developed a SUN SPOT! First, I can%26#039;t imagine how since as I said I take so many precautions. And 2nd, I want to get rid of it. I went to a dermatologist who confirmed it was a sun spot. She put me on Tretioin 0.25% cream. However, creams like Retin-A, hyrdroquinone tend to scare me.For one, I really don%26#039;t want chemicals on my face. Hydroquinone has cancer causing properties and is banned for use in Eurpoe. And Retin-A may actually WORSEN hyperpigmentation on spots and can reoccur once you stop using it.

What I am looking for is a NATURAL way that is effective in PERMANENTLY erasing this spot!!!!!!!!!
Sun/liver spot removal?
try applying lemon juice to the spot, avoiding the eye area since that would sting. Esoterica cream, a long-marketed product available I believe at Wal-Mart, is also a possibility.

Sun Burn - funny or not?

A man was laying on his back and fell asleep on the beach under the noon day sun. He suffered a severe sunburn to his legs. He was taken to the hospital. His skin had turned a bright red and was very painful and had started to blister. Anything that touched his legs caused agony.

The doctor prescribed continued intravenous feedings of water and electrolytes, a mild sedative and Viagra.

Rather astounded, the nurse inquired, %26quot;What good will Viagra do him in that condition?%26quot;

The doctor replied, %26quot;It will keep the sheets off of his legs.%26quot;

Bull Mastiff unusual skin condition?

My Bull Mastiff has developed a red, dry, %26#039;%26#039;scaly%26#039;%26#039; patch under her back leg. About inner thigh area, going up to her stomach. It%26#039;%26#039;s vert dry, and has flaked and peeled off twice now. A bit like sunburn. We initially tried %26#039;%26#039;Savlon%26#039;%26#039; antiseptic cream, but that didn%26#039;%26#039;t do anything. We then took her to the vets, and they prescibed Fuciderm gel. This seemed to mostly clear it up, but it was still pinky and sore looking. We were told by the vet to continue with the gel until the rash had cleared, but it has come back bigger and even more sore looking. It started off as a small patch, about 1 inch dia, and has developed into a saucer sized area in about 3 weeks. We took her to the vets again last night, but the vet said she had not seen anything like this before, and did not know what it was. She%26#039;%26#039;s booked into the vets today to have a biopsy and to be started on anti biotics, but I%26#039;%26#039;m REALLY concerned about what this could be.

My bull mastiff/chow mix gets something like that but so far I%26#039;ve been able to treat it at home by trimming the fur away from the area %26gt;cleaning the spot%26gt;apply antibiotic cream%26gt;It clears right up but I have notice it will get go from a small spot to 2 or 3 times larger overnight !Let us know what the vet said .I%26#039;m a nurse and I thought it was like a hot spot but now I%26#039;m not sure but maybe what Reba has could be different because it does heal quickly ! Good Luck
Bull Mastiff unusual skin condition?
If your vet hasn%26#039;t already done so, I recommend taking the dog to your vet %26amp; having a skin scrape done to check for demodectic mange.
Reply:Hi, it%26#039;s worrying when your dog has a condition you can%26#039;t clear up. My dogs sometimes get wet eczema which is also difficult to clear up. Assuming your dog doesn%26#039;t have demodectic mange, you could try Aloe Vera gel or a cream containing Bee propolis (from health shops). It works for my guys. One thing with this, you can%26#039;t do any harm, as you can do with some of the chemical creams.
Reply:My dog had similar symptoms.

I took her to the vets and it turned out she had mange.

I would recommend that you take her to the vets to get her skin scraped.

19 times you went soft before you got in

38 times you worked too late

10 times you got cramps in your toes

29 times you had to get up early to play golf

2 times you were in a fight and someone kicked you in the balls聽

4 times you got it stuck in your zipper

3 times you had a cold and your nose was running

2 times you had a splinter in your finger

20 times you lost the notion after thinking about it all day

6 times you came in your pajamas while reading a dirty book

98 times you were too busy watching TV

Of the times we did get together:

The reason I laid still was because you missed and were screwing the sheets.

I wasn%26#039;t talking about the crack in the ceiling, what I said was, %26quot;Would you prefer me on my back or kneeling?%26quot;

The time you felt me move was because you farted and I was trying to breathe.

Is this what your sex life is like?
Elsie at least he tried 365 times my husband Michael W only had one excuse

2 He brought one but could not remember where he put it

3 He took one but it did not work

4 He took 2 by mistake and then found he could not turn over

5 Took one without water, coughed it up and is still looking for it under the bed and you think you have problems.!!!! Tomorrow he will put all the blame on 17pdr !!
