What were the name of these sunglasses called???

These sunglasses were popular in the mid-eighties. The had little leather or cloth "visors'' that were attached on the sides to keep the sun from peeking in on the side when you were wearing them. Some also had an attachment to clip on at the nose to protect it from sunburn. I remember seeing them used a lot with artic explorers and alpine skiiers.

I had several pair of those when I was an avid skier up in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. They were great glasses. Report It

Reply:I always heard them referred to as alpines or simply having leather side shields, but that was years after the height of their popularity.
