My skin is horrible!!!Help!?

Okay so just recently my skin broke out really bad so I went to the doctor.He gave me stuff to try out (I forget what its called).The instructions were to put the stuff on after I wash my face with my face wash.I use Proactive.After a few days my acne was going away.Then I noticed my skin was dried out.I thought maybe it was that time of the year when skin gets dry.The next morning my face was swollen and peeling like a sunburn.The swelling is gone and my face is still a little dry.My acne is coming back.When should I start washing my face again and how often?

If you're using a prescription topical, use a very gentle cleanser. Also, don't forget to moisturize. Stop the proactive for a while. Just a gentle, nonmedicated, milky cleanser, a moisturizer and the topical. That will probably calm your skin. If you're drying out and irritating your skin, it will continue to break out.

Consult your doc...did you tell him you are using Proactive?


Maybe the stuff he gave you is not to be used with Proactive and thatz why this bad reaction happened...neways rather than making matters worse go to the doc.

Reply:clean your face with moisturizer soap, pat dry, you can also make a solution with lemon as a astringent, that will make your face feel clean
Reply:Water, drink lots of water. It will cleanse toxins, which make you break out and keep your skin from drying out. Don't over wash your face, 2 maybe 3 times a day. Try pure aloe gel on your face it will help heal and moisturize your face.

But I noticed with Proactive, you can't stop using it....you will start to break out again. It's like heroin. :P
Reply:try asking your doctor for a pill called acutane you take it for a couple of months it may dry your face out at first but moisturizer will fix that but after a couple of months your acne will be gone forever..i swear it works
Reply:talk to your doctor. you might have had an allergic reaction to the stuff he gave you (make sure he knows EVERYTHING that you use for your face) and/or there might have been a chemical reaction.

What was the prescription - did it mention not to use it with products containing benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid or other chemicals?
