I love how people talk about %26quot;scientists%26quot; like they are some kind of homogenous group that all operate under the control of some supreme leader.





Scientists specialize in certain subjects. Scientists are human. Scientists who said something 40 years ago are not the same scientists who are saying things today. Scientists are (hopefully) free-thinkers who put their faith in facts.





I do think it%26#039;s possible some scientists will turn a blind eye to things that might jeopardize their funding, though. But I would hope that is not the majority. And I would also imagine that they are getting funding from a variety of sources.





This argument is too simple and does not take enough facts into consideration.

Scientists do what they do because they like their work. These two science projects were commissioned by the government. Scientists worked on the means, politicians used the means to their own ends.





Scientists seek knowledge, politicians seek power. What is dangerous is when politicians twist science to gain power.
Reply:1) nerve gas is simply an altered form of bug spray.


2) The Atom bomb was developed at the behest of the government. In it%26#039;s only two applications, it probably saved upwards of a million lives.


3) Scientists developed all of the things that have extended the lifespan of the species from the early twenties to beyond 70 years of age. Assuming you aren%26#039;t a child, if it weren%26#039;t for science, you%26#039;d be dead by now.


4) Scientists deal in facts, politicians deal in BS


5) the average person lacks the education and understanding tocomprehend the many facets of global warming. They apparently lack the ability to understand an explanation that takes more than 15 seconds.





Scientists frankly don%26#039;t care whether *you* die from slow warming or not. I%26#039;m an environmental chemist, so I%26#039;ll tell you, you won%26#039;t. Instead, your children will be inconvenienced, your grandchildren will be subject to social and political upheaval, including war, at least according to the Defense department.





If you don%26#039;t care about future generations, that%26#039;s on you.
